Arizona's own Dr. Death
Our elected officials have made it virtually impossible to sue a doctor in the State of Arizona. Before any person can bring a lawsuit against a physician, they have to obtain a sworn affidavit from a "like" doctor swearing that the doctor you are suing breached the "standard of care." See ARS 12-02603. Finding a doctor to do this is VERY difficult and VERY expensive--thousands and thousands of dollars. It is also almost impossible to find an attorney who will even take a medical malpractice case and the damages would have to be catastrophic. Given this enormous barrier which our legislators passed betraying the constituents of Arizona, the fact that Dr. Hott has four (4) lawsuits against him says a lot about his lack of surgical competence. This law only serves to protect the doctors and the medical malpractice insurance companies. The Arizona Medical Board rarely sanctions a physician, as well. As a result, the public are losing the ability to find out who are and are not proficient surgeons before they suffer physical disabilities and end of up with a lifetime of pain. It's frightening.
